Meet the DCJ Team
We are a small group of professional colleagues and caregivers but first and foremost friends. When you join us on the Doula Care Journey our support begins with companionship. Between us we have 10 plus years of experience as passionate birth and postpartum workers across the GTA and abroad.
Jennifer is a Birth and Postpartum Doula [PCD(DONA)] who has trained with both DONA International and ProDoula. As well, she is a Postpartum Placenta Specialist and a Certified Yoga teacher with specialization in pre and postnatal yoga. Coming from a wellness background coupled with her own birth and postpartum experience, she knows first-hand how having an experienced person on your team can make a difference in your parenting journey. She helps her clients to make informed choices that feel right during their birth and postpartum experience. Her goal is to compassionately empower the families she works with so that they can find what works best for them without judgement.
Outside of doula work, she has a passion for music, books, and travel, and loves spending time with her husband, daughter and cat.
Marta is a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula. Six years ago she embarked on her own pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. Somewhere along the way, while navigating the system she was wishing there was a more mom & baby friendly approach to the whole experience. Thus began her journey into discovering doulas, physiological birth and a caring community of caregivers. As a HypnoBirthing instructor, Marta helps couples to approach their birth with confidence, knowledge and most importantly, no fear.
Marta has a six-year-old boy who keeps her and her husband entertained but also very busy. A collector of stamps in her passport, family photos from around the world and modest Canada Running Series medals, she is a fan of cheesy movies and fluffy books.
Amy has been a DONA trained Birth Doula, Prenatal and Kundalini Yoga Instructor since 2009. She began her journey as a Doula volunteering at a water birth clinic in Quito, Ecuador. Following that she had the immense pleasure of supporting many couples before, during and after birth in Barcelona, Spain under the mentorship of a home birth Midwife for over 4 years. While in Barcelona Amy also completed Postpartum Doula training with a midwives collective. Since returning to Toronto she has enjoyed supporting couples in a variety of birthing environments and working with the birth community here.
Amy provides skilled compassionate care for couples in pregnancy, during and beyond birth by listening, attending, informing and guiding without judgement in both English and Spanish.
Some things that fuel her curiosity about life and recharge her are: traveling, nature, yoga, babies, kid logic and curling up with a juicy book!
